The loss of white
Whiteness is a common symptom of aging due to the combination of two main factors:
• the continuous accumulation of extrinsic stains which contributes to the natural yellowing of the teeth over time;
• the natural wear of teeth, a multifactorial process that can include erosion (chemical action), friction (tooth-to-tooth contact) and abrasion (physical wear, such as tooth brushing), where the erosion is considered the dominant factor.
The consequence of enamel wear is that the enamel thins with age, allowing the underlying layer of yellowish dentin to shine through.
The color of the dentin begins to dominate the color of the front teeth, contributing to the yellowness.
Hydroxyapatite not only strengthens the teeth but its effectiveness in restoring the whiteness of the teeth has been demonstrated thanks to its remineralization effect.
